Dear family, friends and champions of our beloved Eritrean American Youth Soccer Tournament – East Coast,
It is our deepest and warmest wish that you are safe and well in this very challenging time of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Considering the scientific prediction and the severity of the disease, the organizing committee of the Eritrean American Soccer Youth Tournament East Coast has decided to cancel our June 2020 soccer tournament. We know how much you look forward to participating in this tournament and family festivity, but the safety and well-being of our family and children is our number one priority.
During this time of uncertainty and stress, self-care and social distancing is very important. To ease your stress and anxiety, we encourage you to take care of yourself and your family, get plenty of exercise and stay connected by calling one another. Though we can connect via social media, please remember to maintain healthy screen time. The recommended amount of screen time by the mayo clinic for children between the ages of 2-12, is 1 hour; 2 hours for teens and adults, and no screen time for children under 2.
Furthermore, social distancing is key in fighting this pandemic. According to the Centers for Disease Control, social distancing is to avoid mass gatherings and while keeping 6ft apart from one another. Kudos to all Eritrean communities – religious gatherings, sports and social clubs, etc., for cancelling their activities indefinitely. Such actions are saving many lives.
Although it is our wish for this pandemic to end soon, experts and scientists across the world are predicting the spread of the virus to continue for the coming weeks and months. We will continue to update you on our future plans once this situation unfolds.
